About
Established in 1987, the Virginia Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Program was created to provide a compassionate and predictable path of support for individuals who have sustained a birth-related neurological injury and the families who care for them.
Through a no-fault system funded by participating healthcare providers, hospitals, and insurers, the program offers lifetime benefits to eligible participants. Those benefits help ensure access to essential medical care, therapies, specialized equipment, home and vehicle modifications, and other resources that support health and quality of life.
For many families, caring for a loved one with a birth-related neurological injury is a lifelong journey. The program exists to provide stability, guidance, and ongoing support, allowing families to focus on what matters most: the well-being of their loved one.
Built on a foundation of collaboration and shared responsibility, the program continues to evolve while remaining committed to its core purpose of putting participants and families first and providing trusted support for every stage of life’s journey.
Our Mission
Our mission is to ease the challenges of birth-related neurological injuries by providing predictable resources and support, ensuring that no family carries the weight of lifelong care alone.
Guided By Our Values
Our values guide every interaction, decision, and service we provide. They reflect our commitment to supporting families with integrity, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility.
Trustworthy
We believe trust is the foundation of everything we do, and we build it through every interaction, operating with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
Family-Centered
We are in your corner. Families are at the heart of our program, and we never lose sight of the people we serve.

We lead with care, recognizing the extraordinary responsibility families carry and treating every interaction with empathy and respect.
